GRAFFITI MESSAGE  - VANDALISM; FASCISM, ANTI-SEMITISM
25.09.2015

Education of young people for responsible behavior in the community and strengthening the "anti-fascist consciousness` are regular activities of the management of Palilula Municipality and Office for Youth of this Municipality.

Last weekend, Boban Džunić, president of Palilula Municipality, visited with his associates, Memorial Park "Bubanj". At the memorial place, on monuments in form s of fists and memorial ossuary to killed patriots, graffiti have appeared - offensive messages, where their place is surely not, says the president of Palilula.

This park and other memorials in the Municipality of Palilula, residential buildings, public buildings are constantly targeted by vandals, irresponsible citizens who are destroying and damaging public areas and facilities. Graffiti often convey a message of hatred and ethnic intolerance. With inspection supervision and discussion, cooperation with civil society organizations and educational institutions, we succeeded to eliminate for a short period this frequent occurrence-president Dzunic points out. Through international projects, with financial support from the EU, certain areas such as the memorial complex "Bubanj" we actually cleaned and greened. We adapted and arranged paths, summer theater stage, set benches, places for rest. However, for a short time, this area has been devastated and rest places and benches set on fire. That is why we have repeatedly pointed out this phenomenon and suggested that it is necessary to provide adequate protection area - set up video surveillance.

During World War II, only in Nis, at the Red Cross Camp and Bubanj Hill, the fascists have shot tens of thousands of citizens of all nationalities. Is this our message to the victims who gave their lives for freedom?
